Grilled Tofu Steak with Spicy Tomato Salsa

Ingredients

  • 1 block tofu
  • 15 ml (1 Tbsp) of flour
  • 2 medium tomatoes
  • 1 small red onion
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1 lemon (juiced)
  • 45 ml (3 Tbsp) extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 small red chili (finely chopped)
  • to taste sea salt
  • to taste black pepper

Preparation

  1. First make the salsa. Blanch tomatoes, refresh in icy water. Peel the skin, remove the seeds and cut into fine dice. Remove the excess moisture on kitchen paper. Mix all the salsa ingredients (Tomato, onion, garlic, lemon juice, oil, chili, salt and pepper) together and reserve.
  2. Press tofu for 1 hour to remove moisture. Cut into 4 steaks, season with salt and black pepper. Dust with flour. Grill on a hot grill or on a BBQ or you could saute in a hot fry pan with light olive oil until crispy on all sides. serve with tomato salsa. too watery.
